MJ’s Lawn Service, LLC was officially founded in January, 2005.  Our customer base continues to increase every year, and our service area now covers all of southern Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.

MJ’s Lawn Service is owned and operated by Mike Toll and Jon McMasters. We started the business while classmates together at Salem High School, mowing lawns to earn extra money.  We continued on a small scale throughout college, as we studied horticulture and business management at TCC and ODU.  Afterwards, we decided to make the lawn service a full time commitment, and we haven’t looked back since.

From our small start ten years ago mowing lawns only on the weekends, to a fully licensed and insured lawn care business with three maintenance crews, we have always kept the same approach of friendly, professional, and reliable service.  We continue to provide lawn care for many of the same customers we’ve had since 1998.  Even after more than ten years, we still look forward to every upcoming mowing season because we take pride in our work, and enjoy what we do.

John McMasters – Owner

Jon has crazy red hair. He is a special ginger, but he is funny as crap. He studied to be a mechanic at TCC and without any knowledge he managed to learn how to walk behind a riding lawn mower. Now I live in his garage office. Making websites for him.

Mike Toll – Owner

Mike looks like he is good with computers. But in reality he studied horticulture at TCC. He is an expert bush trimmer if you know what I mean. He had a short lived run in the local mayors race. He only managed to receive two write in votes and that was from him and his wife.

Make a Payment

We offer a number of ways to make paying convenient

payment Make A Payment

  • Credit Card: This is easiest payment option. Set it and forget it.   This saves you the time and cost of mailing a check every month, and you don’t have to worry about missing a payment.  MJ’s will keep your card on file, so billing becomes a very simple process.  An itemized invoice will be emailed to you on the 1st of the month for weekly lawn services provided during the previous month.  Your card will be charged the amount shown on the invoice.   If the card that we have on file for you is declined or canceled, we will contact you for another card, and service will be temporarily suspended until the balance is paid in full.

  • Cash/Check/Money Order: If you do not wish to have a credit card on file, then we require prepayment for all work.  Your account balance must be paid ahead to avoid an interruption in service.

  • Prepay: If you would like to prepay for the entire season up front, we ca offer you substantial savings by discounting
    10% off of your yearly total.


  • Paypal: We now accept online payments through Paypal , which gives you a number of ways to pay conveniently online.  Click the button below to pay.  You must put in your balance amount, invoice number and street address to ensure payments are properly accredited to your account.  Paying with Paypal does not allow us to charge your card or account each month, thus customers are responsible for timely upfront payments to avoid interruptions in service.
